Billing & Credits
Effective date: July 22, 2026
COMPAS3 AI (including Aletheia) uses a prepaid credit model. There are no recurring subscription tiers. You buy verification credits in advance, and verifying a claim consumes credits from your organisation wallet.

How credits work
- A credit costs $0.50. The number of credits a claim consumes depends on the verification profile you choose, as set out in the next section.
- Credits are held in an organisation wallet. All members of the organisation share the same balance, and any member with access can spend it.
- Extraction is free. Uploading a document and extracting claims from it does not consume credits. You are only charged when you run a verification, so you always see the cost before you commit to it.
- You select which claims to verify before starting a job. The app shows the credit cost up front and blocks the job if your balance is insufficient.
- Credits are a prepaid entitlement to use the Service. They are not money and have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred between organisations, or sold on.
Credit cost by verification profile
| Profile | Credits per claim | Cost per claim | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simple | 1 | $0.50 | Fastest check, fewest sources consulted. |
| Standard | 1 | $0.50 | The default profile. Balanced depth and speed. |
| Expert | 2 | $1.00 | Deepest evidence gathering, widest source set, plus AI-content detection. |
The profile is shown and can be changed before you start a verification, and the credit cost shown at that point reflects the profile you selected.
Free trial
New organisations receive 10 free credits at registration. Trial credits expire 14 days after they are granted if unused. No payment method is required to start.
Top-ups
- Top-ups are one-time purchases from $10 to $5,000 in $10 increments through our checkout flow.
- All prices are in US dollars and are exclusive of VAT, sales tax, GST and any other applicable taxes, which are added where we are required to charge them.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card number.
- If a payment fails or is reversed, we may withhold the corresponding credits and restrict paid features until it is resolved.
Credit expiry
Purchased credits expire after a period that depends on how much you bought in a single top-up:
| Single top-up amount | Credits valid for |
|---|---|
| Under $100 | 3 months |
| $100 to $499 | 6 months |
| $500 to $999 | 9 months |
| $1,000 and above | 12 months |
- Your wallet has a single expiry date, shown in the app alongside your balance.
- Topping up extends your whole balance. When you buy more credits before your existing balance expires, the expiry date becomes the later of your current expiry date and the expiry date earned by the new purchase, and your remaining credits carry over. It is not remaining days plus new days.
- After expiry, unused credits are forfeited. The next purchase starts a fresh period.
- Trial credits expire after 14 days, separately from the table above.
Auto top-up
You can enable automatic top-up so that when your balance falls below a threshold you set, we purchase a further top-up of the amount you specify. Enabling it requires a default payment method on file, and it authorises us to charge that method without further action from you. You can change the threshold and amount, or turn auto top-up off entirely, at any time in your account settings. Turning it off does not refund credits already purchased.
Organisation wallets
- Credits belong to the organisation, not to an individual member. Any member with access to the organisation can spend the shared balance.
- The organisation is responsible for managing who has access and for charges its members incur.
- Removing a member does not refund credits that member has already used.
- If an organisation is deleted or its account is closed, any remaining credits are forfeited.
Refunds
Credit purchases are non-refundable. Services are delivered digitally and credits are available in your wallet immediately on successful payment. We do not refund partial usage, unused credits, or credits remaining when you close your account. Unused credits may expire as described above.
Consumers in the UK and EEA. You normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. At checkout we ask you to consent to immediate supply of your credits and to acknowledge that doing so ends that cancellation right. If you give that consent, your right to cancel ends when the credits reach your wallet. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
If we withdraw the Service, or close your account for a reason other than your breach of the Terms of Use, we will refund the amount you paid for any unused, unexpired credits.
Changes to pricing
We may change our prices, credit rates or expiry rules. We will give at least 30 days notice of material changes by email or in the application. Changes apply only to purchases made after they take effect. Credits already in your wallet stay governed by the terms in effect when they were granted.
Enterprise
Enterprise customers receive negotiated credit grants, custom per-claim pricing, contract references, and priority rate limits. Contact [email protected] or book a call.
